Magazine Database ASCII Format

One can submit entries to the www.jbrain.com Article Database by creating a 7 or 8 bit ASCII text file, with article information, one article description to a line. The following fields are accepted, in the order they should appear on a line. Fields must be separated by commas, and multi-word fields must be enclosed with double quotes. The fields are:
  1. Month (1-12)
  2. Year (1977-1997)
  3. Category (one of the following)
    m
    Machine Language
    g
    Game
    p
    Programming
    u
    Utility
    a
    Application
    f
    Feature
    Can add more as needed.
  4. Title (100 chars)
  5. Abstract (1000 chars)
  6. Author 1 First Name (80 chars)
  7. Author 1 Last Name (80 chars)
  8. Author 2 First Name (80 chars)
  9. Author 2 Last Name (80 chars)
  10. Keywords (100 chars)
  11. Target Platform space delimited grouping of one or more of the following mnemonics:
    vic 64 2001 3000 4000 8000 sp 500 600 700 65 +4 16 128 b pet
    pet implies 2001,3000,4000,8000
A sample line will look like:

Mon,Year,Cat,Title,Abstract,Auth1FN,Auth1LN,Auth2FN,Auth2LN,Keys,Platform

1,1984,"m","Addressing","This is a description","Jim","Brain","Frank,"Burns","addressing modes","vic 64"

Quotes are optional on all fields, but required on multiword fields. Each line must identify one article, no more or less. If you have additional information you would like to place in the archive, simply add it to the end of each line and let me know what each field means. When articles are indexed, simply mail the resulting file to the VICUG Admin..
